When buying with For-Auction, you have the peace-of-mind knowing that every lot has been carefully catalogued by a specialist, so what you see is what you get. Every lot offered has a description with its period and origin and where possible, we include known provenance. On request email a detailed condition report for every lot and we can also send multiple extra images, so you can see the item as clearly as you would do in person. Post-auction we help you with collection and delivery arrangements. Below we explain how to buy at our auctions. Our full terms and conditions of business are published under the Current Auctions page on this website.
Buyer’s Premium
Buyers are charged a buyer’s premium of 24% plus GST on the hammer price of all lots. For invaluable.com fees, please refer to the Online Bidding tab at this website.
Live Bidding
All auctions are timed online auctions, and each lot will open in chronological order after the auction starts at the advertised time. You can then bid in real-time, like with any auction. If any bids happen in the last 2 minutes, the lot extends for a further 5 minutes, so you won’t miss out, should you still wish to bid. It will be very clear if the bid is with you or another bidder, so watch for the prompts. If you are the winning bidder, you will know and then you will be sent an invoice to your email address that you registered with and, on the second attachment send with it, will be clear payment and collection instructions. If you are a first-time bidder you must register to bid live at least 24 hours before the auction.
Absentee Bids
You can leave an absentee bid at any time on an auction when you have registered on this site with invaluable.com. Be aware that they will require a credit card to register you, which they will only use for identification purposes, and your credit card will not be kept on file anywhere, and you never be charged without your direct authorisation.
The invaluable.com bidding system ensures that no-one knows your maximum bid and the system will bid the lowest bid for you, meaning you get the item as cheaply as other bidding permits, even though you may have left a much higher bid.
Viewing
In most cases there will be a two-day live viewing, unless stated otherwise. Condition reports and extra images are available on request for every lot. You can also email us at any time asking for more specific information on a particular lot if you cannot see what you need to online.
See Contact Us below:
