As a third generation antique dealer Peter French was raised among fine quality antiques and art. He soon acquired an expansive knowledge and appreciation of antiques and was an enthusiastic trader. Having trained as an interior decorator and with a merchandising background Peter enjoyed a successful retail career spanning over 40 years. He opened premises in Armadale before moving to bayside Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. His knowledge of timbers and periods was extensive and opinion often sought by his peers. He was a well regarded raconteur and identity amongst the Melbourne antique trade. Peter was an astute buyer with a keen eye who thrived on buying and selling and continued passionately until his recent passing.
Peter French's estate comprises European furniture, bronzes, mirrors clocks, artworks and decorative arts and will be sold in two parts in October and November 2024 at www.forauction.com.au
