The sale of William ( Bill) Davis's glass collection will represent a rare feast for collectors in this field and is surely one of, if not the, finest collections of 18th century glass to have been sold in Australia. Purchased over the last 50 years from some of the world's top specialist dealers in this field, the collection is notable for it's scale, rarity and condition and it includes some extremely rare examples, all of which are being offered at very conservative estimates, making it a genuine dispersal auction.
The event is likely to attract strong international interest, especially from England, where many of the rarest glasses were originally created, some 200-300 years ago.
For-Auction specialist Lee Bradshaw has catalogued the collection and we are grateful to Robert ( Bob) Metsellar of Vanopa Antiques, for his assistance in cataloguing with Lee.
