Robert Allan collection from Adelaide sells to international buyers and produces some strong results

The market for English ceramics was seen to show considerable life when Robert Allan's collection was offered at auction with For-Auction. Highest individual prices were paid for the pieces in the best condition and the rarest, as this market gets stronger the higher up the tree you get.

The cover lot ( Lot 43) was one example, this fine Bow botanical plate circa 1760 was conservatively estimated at $1,000-1,500 but soared to $9030. inc BP and sold to a buyer in Paris.

Lot 114 was a very fine Chelsea tea-bowl and saucer by Jeffreyes Hammet O'Neil which was estimated at $3,000-5,000 and sold for $11,610. inc BP and Lot 253 was a Queen Anne chest-on-chest and proved a rare highlight in the field of antique selling for $6300 inc BP against an estimate of $3,000 and perhaps the highest result versus estimate was paid by a museum in Scotland for lot 117 a rare Worcester black-printed mug commemorating Prince Charles Edward Stuart. Estimated at $500-800 it sold for $7095. inc BP
